#4 Exam Question
I loved the mini assignments that we were asked to complete. They weren't as stressful to mess up on as the final pieces and I feel that I really learned a lot about the different units through these mini assignments. My favorite mini assignments were the pencil still life mini assignment where we focused on shading and the shapes and my other favorite mini assignment was blending using prisma colored pencils. I think that the pencil still life mini assignment was beneficial to me because I learned a lot about shading and different pencils that are used with lights and darks of a piece. I also think that this piece helped me with different dimensions and the heights of elements. I also think that the mini assignment with the prismas benefited me because I learned how you can use different colors to blend other colors together. I learned that using a white prisma can blend colors together and can really make an element brighter. Both of these mini assignments allowed me to be very successful in my finals so I think that they really helped me throughout.
#5 Exam Question
catherine-apex-2021.weebly.com/ - Cat's Art Portfolio
I think that this art piece exemplifies what the project asked for. For this project realistic values, use of pen techniques, use of patterns, followed instructions, time management, and an original idea were all used in the piece. She followed instructions and turned her assignment in on time. She also used realistic values and created shading with stippling in her art piece. She used different patterns that would go well with what they represented and she also created shape and dimension using shading techniques with the pen value and range. I think that the way she added the stippling for the background/table really made the other elements on the page pop out such as the cup of coffee and the pencils. I loved the pen pattern she used for the pencils because they look 3-D and look perfectly rounded. Overall, I think that she grew as an artist with this piece because it showed her attention to detail and how she can finalize a piece.

#2 Exam Question
I've grown as an artist while using Prisma Colored pencils to draw my Butterfly final piece. The Prismas allowed me to blend the colors nicely which helped me learn how to blend using colored pencils. I wasn't aware that you could use all of the colors in the rainbow to create a piece other than the colors needed for the project. I learned that using all of the colors of the rainbow creates an illusion of the piece looking fuller and it looks more realistic. I think that I also grew with this piece because I learned more about dimensions and how to create a 3-D image. I also grew as an artist in my still life pencil drawing. I think I grew in this piece because I learned more about shading. Shading has become one of my favorite parts about pencil drawings because it creates such a statement with pieces. Instead of a piece looking bland and flat, shading allows it to look so much better and that is what I learned with this piece.
#7 Exam Question
For my printmaking project I decided to use the landscape of a lighthouse in the ocean with a sunset. I believe that this is my least successful piece because there are many flaws. I had gotten paint on the black page where I was not supposed to get paint. I also had the paint for different layers go in areas I did not want them to go. I think that this piece is patchy in some spots and does not look like a lighthouse in the middle of the ocean. If I were to create this piece differently, I would have made the cage on the top of the lighthouse with thicker lines. I would have also made the different layers on the ocean smaller so the lines would not interfere with the concept. I also would have chosen a different color for the background instead of a pink. Overall, I think that I have grown besides the fact that this piece isn't my best because I learned more about layering in lino cut printmaking and that will benefit me in the long run.
