I plan to use my piece to hold jewelry. I plan on finishing my piece by putting a butterfly on my top. Then I would paint it gold. I would also use glue to apply the butterfly on my piece because I wouldn't want to fire it again and I think it would just be best to apply glue. So far, I have found getting the shape of my piece before firing difficult. I had to restart probaby 4 times. Then I came to a conclusion to try the wheel. For my first time I would say it was ok. So far after I fired my clay piece getting the right color is very easy. Since I used acrylic paint I easily mixed white and purple to get this periwinkle color.
Up at this point I would say that my greenware piece was hard to achieve especially when after I fired my piece, I dropped my top and it shattered. Scoring and slipping probably has to be the easiest thing in pottery for me. At this point, it was fun and I loved doing it.

My mentor is Emmarose, she makes beautiful landscape paintings that incorporate pieces of magazines or photography into her paintings. For example, she made this really legit landscape piece that she made her own and the part that was from a photograph was the part of the bridge. I find it really cool and I relate to it in a way. I can't paint as well as she can but it inspires me and I love seeing her work.
Her digital portfolio is here. https://emmarose-apex-2018.weebly.com/ What do I want to get out of this? Honestly, I just want to learn and ask questions. This would help me out because I want to learn from her and the amazing work that she does. I feel like the more practice I will get the better I will become and I am looking forward to it. You can attempt to make brown by mixing the primary colors. This is my favorite way because the primary colors can make any color but it is cool how if you mix all of the primary colors (blue, yellow, and red) you get one color in the outcome. From this activity, I learned the different values of paint mixing. It is very important to know which shade to use because it makes a huge difference. I had fun and I hope we get to do it again.
I was inspired by an artist called Bordalo ii. He creates beautiful pieces of street art using trash. It is a creative way to incorporate the trash with his work and it is extremely eye catching. Many of the pieces of work he has done are of animals that has their natural colors on one side and on the other are many other colors such as green, purple, and blue. The trash is better for the environment to put into a work of art because this artist isn't wasting it, he is putting it to an effective use. This image of a fox has bits of trash used as its natural color of fur and the other pieces of trash are put on the other side. Each piece of trash is cut differently to give a different feel. I am inspired of this artist because he uses trash in a smart way to incorporate it in my favorite type of art, street art.
